Saraswati Jab buddhi baant rahi thi…': PM Modi's dig at Congress' Chidambaram over UPI success

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently took a dig at senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram while speaking about the success of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in India. The Prime Minister made a playful comment, saying, “Saraswati jab buddhi baant rahi thi,” implying that when the goddess of wisdom was distributing intellect, some people might have missed out.

PM Modi’s remark came in response to earlier criticism from Chidambaram, who had expressed skepticism about UPI when it was first introduced. The Congress leader had doubted whether the platform would succeed in the long run. However, UPI has since become one of the most popular digital payment systems in the world, with millions of transactions taking place every day.

During a public address, PM Modi pointed out that many people had initially doubted the potential of UPI, but today it has revolutionized digital payments in India. He highlighted how the system has made payments easier, faster, and more secure for common citizens. The Prime Minister took this opportunity to target the opposition, particularly Chidambaram, for underestimating the digital payment initiative.

UPI's success is a matter of pride for the government, as it aligns with PM Modi's vision of a "Digital India." It has empowered small businesses, facilitated cashless transactions, and reduced the dependency on traditional banking systems. With UPI, even a roadside vendor can accept payments digitally, fostering financial inclusion across all sections of society.

In conclusion, PM Modi’s comment was not just a humorous jibe at his political rival but also a celebration of UPI's success. The growth of this platform stands as proof that innovation and determination can bring about meaningful change in society, even when initially doubted by some.
